really sunny september

From sleeping with two duvets to sleeping with the window open (I didn't actually sleep with the window open because my street is so noisy but I could have, that's the point), summer's back! At least for a day or two, the rain will be back just in time for the weekend of course.

It's been like this (20 degrees and sun) pretty much the whole week and as it doesn't happen often in Ireland I went for a long Phoenix Park walk on Tuesday. Put the laundry in the washing machine before I left but forgot I to save a pair of socks so had to do without in my trainers. Not. A. Good. Idea. Halfway through the park my feet were bleeding (literally) and I was seriously considering walking barefoot home. That would probably have hurt my feet more though, so just endured the pain.

So no walk for me yesterday, although there was not a single cloud in the sky and I longed for the park. Joined Josef on a shopping spree instead (he shopped, I gave advice) and then we went for a burrito at a place we found on Saturday, Josef is already a regular. Huge burrito for only 5 euros, awesome.

Today I think Tea and I are having a movie night, might try a walk as well but my feet are still blistered. Bo ho.

sunny september

So, Ruth got better and we could celebrate her birthday. Bought balloons, cake, candles and gathered a bunch of people at my place for drinks before heading to Krystal.

It was a lot of fun until the jeagerbombs got to me. What happened, I wasn't even having any...? Anyways, we're all old now and left pretty early for some Indian food, hehe.

Saturday was sunny and warm so took a walk to St. Stephen's Green, Iveagh Gardens and South Canal with Olle and Josef.

When we got sick of the sun we went to Cineworld for a Ryan Gosling night *drool*. Saw Drive (one of the best films I've seen in  a while, see it!) and Crazy Stupid Love, also really good.

Nice to wake up well rested on another Sunday, cleaned my whole apartment and then headed for Cineworld, again. But it was raining so we had a good reason not to go on Adventure Sunday. They are showing Jurassic Park here for 2 weeks and obviously we had to see it. The first screening was sold out though so saw Friends with benefits first, actually not as bad as I thought it'd be.

to arthur!

This happened to me this morning, incredibly scary! (Sounds much more serious on English Wiki than on the Swedish version.) Was half awake and thought someone was in the room but couldn't move. When I thought I saw a goose walking across the floor I knew I was dreaming, haha.

Yesterday was Arthur's Day. A day they created two years ago to celebrate that it was 250 years ago Arthur Guinness signed the lease for the brewery, or something like that. Now it just exists so they can make more money, but hey, any reason to have a Guinness during the week is fine with me. Met up with Josef after work and went to Slattery's where we cheered to Arthur at exactly 17.59. Later on David, Glenn and Olle showed up and after a few more Guinness we went to Sin É where I had one pint, then got tired and went home around 10. Can't party like back in the days anymore, I'm getting old.

Tonight we're hopefully gonna celebrate Ruth if she's not sick (get better, Ruthski!) and tomorrow we might check out the Oktoberfest. A bit disappointed I threw away my German beer maid costume I had for Halloween last year, if I still had it I'd use it tomorrow. Maybe.

Cheers!

happy birthday dj ruthless!

Gah, I get so upset when I read about all the complaints about facebook and social networking. That we rather talk to eachother online than meet in real life. Huh? Well, there are probably a few living their lifes only on facebook but no one I know would rather talk to friends online than meet up for a coffee. BS I say! Sure there are a lot of unnesessary status updates, but just if you don't wanna read them, then don't! And you can choose how much of your life you wanna put online, no one's forcing you. I don't talk to all of my fb-friends but it doesn't bother me having them there and there are so many I've stayed in touch with just because of facebook.

Whatever, just had to get it out.

What I really wanna say is HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ruth/Rutski/DJ Ruthless/Ruthilicious who turns 23 today! This is for you, Ruttan:

Ah, you get this one too, cause you're so cute!

I don't have a cookie though. But you already had a muffin today, that's enough! OK?

sober weekend

Was only going out for a short walk on Friday night but walked along Liffey and didn't wanna turn back halfway as it was getting dark and there were no lights so ended up on a 10k walk instead. Came home and died early in front of Boondock Saints.

Saturday morning walk in Phoenix Park with Tea and Ruth. We ended up in the middle of Dublin Marathon and were thinking about stealing some water from them, but nah...

Lunch at Manning's bakery, yummy, yummy!

Spent a couple of hours at the café, drinking coffee, eating cakes and playing cards.

Went to Urban Outfitters and looked at stuff we want when we get paid. Someday...

Had another coffee in a sunny Trinity College while watching guys with afros play football.

Then back to my place for jigsaw puzzle night! It was actually fun, it's pretty addictive. Got 10 puzzles for 20 euros, have so much to entertain myself with now until payday. Win. (And it's not wine in my wine glass, it's cranberry juice, just wanted to party it up a bit.)

Yesterday I went to the cinema (have to keep up some weekend tradition at least) where we saw Tinker Tailor Solider Spy and 30 minutes or less. I was tired and couldn't really keep up with the first film but liked it anyway. Will have to drink a few espressos and see it again. Or maybe just read the book. The second film was short but funny, can recommend them both!

So the sober weekend went well, it was really nice to just stay in for once (even though we apparently missed the best night out ever according to Josef and Olle). But on Thursday it's Arthur's Day and it's mandatory to have a Guinness and on Friday we're celebrating Ruth who turns 23 on Wednesday. Whoop.

ok go

It's so nice to feel well rested on a Monday for a change. The weekend included two long power walks, a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle, mini-spa, lunch and carrot cake at Manning's, window shopping at Urban Outfitters, movie night at home and cinema. Will upload some pictures soon. Later.

If it's not raining this evening I'll take a power walk to the Docklands after work to figure out where I have my 3rd interview tomorrow. Haven't heard back from the other two companies yet and don't wanna call them before I've had this interview but it'd be nice to get some feedback during the day.

Coffee time.

plans

Ruth and I have so many plans. When it's quiet at work making plans is the best way to pass time and hopefully some (all) of them will happen as well, I know how I am with plans. Like making them, bad at going through with them.

The plan for the weekend anyway is to be sober. We've shaken hand on that not one single drop of alcohol will pass our lips and the one who can't make it will have to pay for a whole night out. But I'm actually looking forward to a quiet weekend. Might go to the cinema tomorrow and might climb some 'mountain' if the weather allows it. No mountain climbing tomorrow night though, Sunday maybe.

sweet

"Next up: try to top last Saturday" says Ruth. And yes, it might be hard now that winter has arrived to Dublin, but we'll do our best. The plan is to hang out at the bakery across the street, might even indulge in some cake. Mmm... If it's not sunny and warm (which it won't be) I hope it'll be raining so I can feel good about sitting inside drinking coffee all day.

This just reminded me that it's my turn to bring something for cookie Friday at work. I wanna make Swedish cinnamon buns but if I know myself I'll probably just buy the cheapest cookies I can find at Lidl, hehe.

Now: lunch.

aw friday and sunny saturday

One AW, sure.

Met up with Delba and Ruth after my interview (have no idea how I did as usual, hopefully they liked me...) and took a flip-a-coin beer at South Williams. We all lost and had to pay for our beers, I think the bartender was cheating. Went down the street to GBK and had a falafel burger and wine. When Delba abandoned us we went across the street to Powerscourt and then up the street again to Dada, a Maroccan restaurant. Good after work Friday, I like South William Street!

Happy faces at GBK.

Powerscourt.

Saturday was warm and sunny so Ruth and I decided to check out Dublin Fashion Festival around Grafton. Wasn't much to see though so just walked around enjoying the weather, drank Butler's coffee and ended up on South William Street again, where we had a yummy salad and shared a bottle of wine. If it's a sunny Saturday it is a sunny Saturday...

In the evening Ruth, Olle, Josef, Delba, Christoffer, Assan and Kim came over to my place and later on we went to Dandelion. Had fun at home but Dandelion was only ok, kept losing everyone, as always.

Sunday was Cineworld Sunday (Adventure Sunday is no more...) and now it's another work week. Only half day today though, have another interview this afternoon, hope I can get at least one of the jobs!

to do, friday

Whoop, only 2 hours left at work! Then I'm going to the bank to finally get my salary (they haven't sent my pin for my laser card yet so have to fill in papers, stand in queues, etc, etc.), hopefully I'll have time for some lunch (I'm eating Bran Flakes straight out of the box for breakfast, too lazy and broke to go buy a yoghurt), and then I have an interview. I should probably prepare, but instead I'm playing facebook games and decorating my apartment by browsing on IKEA's website.

If everything goes well (I don't get hit by the luas, fall in Liffey or similar) I'm meeting Ruth and maybe Delba (aka the Danish guy) for an AW (after work) somewhere around Grafton to celebrate it's Friday. Again. That'll be all though. Maybe, maybe we'll buy a cheap Lidl wine and a big puzzle and go back to my place. That's Friday entertainment for ya!

back in the days

Didn't end up on a walk after all, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Anyway, after all the 'swimming' and sauna we got hungry and decided on pub food at that place from last weekend I can't spell (Mc Turquilles or something?). Fish 'n' chips (or lasagna) with salad and a pint for 9 euro, very much worth it, might even become a Saturday tradition. Don't know how we ended up talking about Swedish hiphop from back in the days (read 90's/00's) but suddently that was the theme of the night and we were writing playlists on napkins.

Tea ditched us after the sauna and Jonas after the pub so Ruth, Josef, Olle and I had our 'Back-in-the-days-pre-party' on our own at Josef's and Ruth's place. When we got sick of Latin Kings and Lilleman we changed the theme to 'Owling-and-planking-night' and headed for Fitzsimons (I don't know why we always end up there, used to hate that place. Roof terrace is ok though I guess...).

Ghost Ruth and Josef.

Owling (most useless thing ever, but still fun) at Fitzsimons.

Owling with random guy.

You get hungry from too much owling so we went to the Indian place again. We only had one euro left, but Olle asked if we could get food anyway as we're there all the time and so we did. I say it a lot, but it's really the best place ever!

And now it's almost weekend again, I like to think it starts on Thursdays...

september start

There's too much going on here during the weekends, I always feel like I need a weeks rest when Monday comes. Knowing this, I took yesterday off. Mostly in case Johanna wanted to stay here after Electric Picnic and because I wanted to finish painting my apartment but it was really nice not have to drag myself out of bed at 5 in the morning.

So, 30 euro weekend, huh? Don't think so. Of course we had to watch the football at Wool Shed (aka Tool Shed) and of course we had to drown our sorrows after that. Wtf, Sweden? So we went to Assan's place, had a few and went to Lillie's, again. Last time now, there are way better places in this town! After that we we went to our fave Indian place as usual and ate way too many garlic naans with yummy stuff like tikka masala. *Drool*

Don't have that many good pictures from Friday but I'll have to give you this one, just because it's so disgusting, haha.

On Saturday we finally made it to Olle's pool. It was freezing but after the steam sauna it was actually nice, and good for the hangover!

Going for a walk with Ruthski now, more about the weekend to come!

best day of the week

It's a very quiet, slow Friday at work and our queue is empty, which has only happened once before since I started here. Jonas, Tea and I have been passing our time with playing cards instead, and we just finished our 'Friday Fika' (fika = coffee/tea and cookies or smilar for you non-Swedish readers).

40 minutes left, then the plan is football at WoolShed, party at Assar's and Lillie's Bordello. Think I can make it on 30 euro until payday on Wednesday? Damn.

one of these days

Awesome start to this Thursday. Woke up at 5 after 4,5 hours of sleep and, once again, thought it was Saturday. Remembered it was Friday and thought at least Fridays are nice, and then my brain caught up with me and I remembered it's only Thursday. Can this please stop happening to me?

Couldn't find any clothes to wear, my hair is a mess and my fingers look blue after trying to remove my nailpolish in a hurry. When at work I spilled coffee all over my desk, my computer decided to freeze while logging a case and I didn't have enough yogurt left for breakfast. Checked facebook and found I'm member of a group called "Seafront bills". It gave me shivers, I've been dreading getting an email from Lasse with our electricity bill as it seems like you get it twice a year in Malta. Haven't seen the amount yet and I don't want to either.

But I'm happy now, I've realised it's just stupid to be bitter.

Last night we had Indian take away and movie nigth at Olle's place. We found this shabby looking fast food place last weekend and they have amazing Indian food. They're not that good at English though, got chicken and beef when we ordered prawns and they couldn't understand that we wanted extra naan breads. But that's what makes it authentic, right? And we weren't complaining that they weren't that good at counting either, got it 10 euros cheaper although we repeated our order about three times to make sure they got it right.

Tonight Johanna and her sister are staying at my place as they are going to Electric Picnic (jealous!) tomorrow.  I was smart enough to start painting my apartment on Tuesday and haven't had time to finish it so looks like a war zone at the moment but I hope they don't mind. Hopefully everyting will be ready for next weekend so I can have a house warming.

Friday soon!
