paris, je t'aime

I'm not gonna go into detail of everything we did in Paris but it included a lot of walking, croissants, espressos, red wine, the Eiffel Tower, Montmarte, football, picnic at the Seine, baguettes, the Louvre and a whole bag of cherries.

View from our hotel room.

Seine at night.

French baguette with butter and jam, yum!

The Louvre.

Coffee and croissant at the Louvre.

No explanation needed.

Proud Swedish supporter! I bet with an Englishman at the bar that if Sweden won I'd buy drinks for the rest of the night and vice versa. So the loss wasn't too bad after all.

Got the brilliant idea to buy a whole bag of sweet cherries for 10e on our way home. Carried it around the whole day after but never managed to finish it.

Rainy Montmarte.

Taj Mahal?

Pretty Latin Quarters.

Picnic by the Seine with sparkling for 1,2e, a huge baguette and, of course, cheese!

Aaand, that's pretty much it! Paris, je t'aime.

dicey's

2-euro Tuesday at Dicey's and win against the frenchies in the European yesterday - nuff said.

So, which one's mine again?

Going home in time is not really my thing apparently but work wasn't too bad today, maybe I'm not that old after all. Tiredness has caught up with me now tho, so night, night!

a-a-a-awesome weekend

Started with the long-awaited Jay-Z & Kanye West concert. It was, as expected, awesome and I decided Jay-Z should just ditch Beyonce (come on, she's not that hot?) and marry me instead. Starstruck, oh yes. As my camera is as good at taking concert pictures as Sweden is at playing football I took the liberty to steal some from Ruth. You can see the rest of them here.

Saturday. The forecast was right and the sun was shining so I crawled out of bed, made a chocolate cake and tzatziki and got Fernando to pick me up on his way over to Therese's place.

Fernando the bbq master.

Marcus the bartender.

Brazilian speciality - chicken hearts. I am a bad, bad vegetarian and tasted a tiny bit of it. Tasted like pork.

Almost everyone.

Football pause in all the eating and dancing.

A boat came by.

Drinking games with the ones still going strong.

Finished the night in Workman's Club with Therese and Alex, great Saturday! Nice to do something else for a change :)

On Sunday Ruth came by with this, she's a real friend that Ruth! Fruit salad, different kind of pastry, Butlers coffee, chocolate and crisps, she knows what I want. Watched a film and when Ruth went home I met up with Monique and Kevin to watch Ireland - Croatia. Disappointment, but not even close to Sweden - Ukraine. Ah well, still got some hope, and hopefully we get to celebrate in Paris on Friday. If not, we'll drown our sorrows in cheap French wine instead. Works for me.

watch the O2

If you wanna know what I did yesterday, you can check this out. Have so many skillz I don't know what to do with my life. Also made an awesome chocolate cake to bring to work but Ruth and ended up eating half of it so  only my Brazilian/Swedish team got to taste it. It was a success and now I have to make it as dessert for our bbq tomorrow. Apparently tomorrow is gonna be the only sunny day as long as the forecast can tell us so have to take advantage of it (even though there are some interesting matches on tomorrow...). We have "jersey day" at work to day but I'm the only one in our team representing. I feel very yellow. After work I'm meeting Josef at the beer boat in Liffey where we'll have a drink before meeting up Ruth at the O2 for Jay-Z and Kanye West. Haven't been this psyched about a concert since... Babyshambles at Hultsfred '05 maybe? Haha.

Very random post, you're welcome.

plans

Two days until the European Cup starts, two days until Jay-Z and Kanye West at O2 and 8 days until I pack my nicest dresses, my Partner in Crime Ruth and my last euros and head for the city of amour - le Paris!

We've been talking for so long now about going to Paris but agreed we couldn't afford it and should do an Ireland road trip instead. But then theses really cheap tickets suddenly appeared on RyanAir's website that we couldn't resist. So it'll be a budget trip with the cheapest hostel we can find (without bedbugs, please) and as many picnics as possible.

But before that - football and hippetyhiphop! I've managed to convince Ruth to see the England-Sweden game while we're away. Would have been more fun if we were playing France while there but it's probably for the best we're not... Especially considering the match yesterday against Serbia. While on the subject, where are all the Swedes hiding these days?? I know it was only a friendlies but even during the qualifiers the Swedes were nowhere to be seen at Woolshed. Have they just abandoned WS or have they abandoned Ireland? Five years ago Josef and I wouldn't have had to represent Sweden ourselves. This year I'll have to represent Holland as well as we're having a Euro Sweep at work (you pay 3e and have a draw for the teams) and I got them. Might possible earn a few euros.

That's enough of blabbering for now, back to "work".

so it's here.

The best day of the week, and I think people have given up pretending to work.

random saturday

The lovely summer weather we had last week continued on Saturday so Ruth, Josef, Olle, Larissa, Rafaela, Jesper, Pedro and I grabbed some drinks, blankets, a frisbee and twister (of course!) and headed to Phoenix Park. Just when we got there a police car rolled up next to us and we quickly hid our drinks as you're not really allowed to drink in the park. But they didn't care.

Garda: Where you from?
Us: Sweden
Garda: Ok, just watch yourselves. People got attacked around here.

Eh. They might have said "got a tan", makes more sense, seeing how we looked by the end of the day.

In the evening we had a bbq at Westgate. Or, I eventually gave up and fried my halloumi on the stove as someone had underestimated the amount of charcoal needed.

After too much food Pedro and I went to the George to watch the Eurovision. Not a big fan but I actually liked Sweden's song this year and if you should see it somewhere, it should be the George (gay club), the audience loved Sweden!

After Sweden outclassing the rest of Europe I met up with Olle, Larissa, Rithya, Nash, Josef, Jesper and Rafaela and headed to a house party where we drank mojitos in the garden. Back to CC with Josef, stopped by Czech Inn, had a drink with Michael and his friend at Turk's Head, back to the house party, cab to another party on the other side of the city and finally we ended up in a random night club that had open until 7 in the morning. Don't think I've been in that many places in one night since our A-Z pub crawl five years ago.

Not much planned for this weekend, mostly looking forward to Jay-Z and Kanye West next Friday, it's gonna be craaazy. And maybe, maybe, there'll be wiggah's in Paris in two weeks - to be continued...
