random saturday

The lovely summer weather we had last week continued on Saturday so Ruth, Josef, Olle, Larissa, Rafaela, Jesper, Pedro and I grabbed some drinks, blankets, a frisbee and twister (of course!) and headed to Phoenix Park. Just when we got there a police car rolled up next to us and we quickly hid our drinks as you're not really allowed to drink in the park. But they didn't care.

Garda: Where you from?
Us: Sweden
Garda: Ok, just watch yourselves. People got attacked around here.

Eh. They might have said "got a tan", makes more sense, seeing how we looked by the end of the day.

In the evening we had a bbq at Westgate. Or, I eventually gave up and fried my halloumi on the stove as someone had underestimated the amount of charcoal needed.

After too much food Pedro and I went to the George to watch the Eurovision. Not a big fan but I actually liked Sweden's song this year and if you should see it somewhere, it should be the George (gay club), the audience loved Sweden!

After Sweden outclassing the rest of Europe I met up with Olle, Larissa, Rithya, Nash, Josef, Jesper and Rafaela and headed to a house party where we drank mojitos in the garden. Back to CC with Josef, stopped by Czech Inn, had a drink with Michael and his friend at Turk's Head, back to the house party, cab to another party on the other side of the city and finally we ended up in a random night club that had open until 7 in the morning. Don't think I've been in that many places in one night since our A-Z pub crawl five years ago.

Not much planned for this weekend, mostly looking forward to Jay-Z and Kanye West next Friday, it's gonna be craaazy. And maybe, maybe, there'll be wiggah's in Paris in two weeks - to be continued...

soon...

pk party

Friday. Started the weekend with some leaving drinks for a couple of colleagues then took a walk in the sunshine to Russel's in Ranelagh for some more leaving drinks for Dave who's leaving PK (where I worked before).

Was a bit early so enjoyed a Smithwicks in the sun while waiting for the others.

Chris, Dave, Johan and Shane.

Dave and Anna.

When they closed at Russell's we jumped in a cab to take us to Copán, me still with a full glass of cider in my hand. Was surprised I got out of the pub and in the cab with it, but I couldn't just leave it there! Outside Copán I was gonna put the empty glass down and managed to drop it 5cm above the ground. So close. With glass everywhere and three bouncers staring angrily at me I never thought they'd let me in but they didn't say a word about it. Phew.

Chris and James.

Showing off their best moves.

Tomo and Sarah.

It was so much fun seeing my old colleagues again, have barely seen them since I came back, too bad! And soon I'll be leaving again...

liffey walk

On Monday Ruth and I took a long walk along Liffey and enjoyed the last of the sunshine. Might have been the last sunshine for this summer, now it's back to grey and cloudy. At least it's still pretty warm and they weather forecast is looking promising. But this is Ireland...

As the bloggers we are, we probably took more photos than we walked:

trinity college

Summer has arrived to Dublin so my "new life" is on hold for a while. Since it's Ireland we're talking about I'll be back in the gym in no time. So headed to Trinity College straight after work yesterday, had no idea you could buy cheap drinks to enjoy out on the lawn there. Awesome.

Bare feet and cold cider. Win-win situation I'd say.

Jessica and Therese.

Therese and Marcus and a Brazilian flag. Obv.

People came and went (can you say that? Swenglish? Ah, you know what I mean) but Marcus, Therese and I stayed until the sun went down. Learned dirty sentences in Portuguese and could have earned 20e if I'd went over to a group of Brazilian guys to practise it on them. Kinda regret I chickened out.

Today - Phoenix Park all day, then Eurovision at the George. Whoop.

quiet weekend. almost.

After a quiet Friday night infront of the TV (!) I got up relatively early on Saturday and went to the gym (!). Wow. Met up Josef after that and on our way to lunch we saw the Dublin pedi bus:

You sit on it and pedal while you drink beer. Combined gym and beer drinking, awesome!

Went to Mongolian BBQ, you pick whatever veggies, sauce, spices, meat/tofu you like and they fry it for you. Really nice, but will not take the chili next time, it was hot!

In the evening Ruth came over to my place for some home made mushroom pasta and fresh strawberry drinks.

Headed to the Garage Bar where we met up with Josef, his brother and his friends.

I thought he was dressed up as a croissant at first, but the croissant had balls...

Then we went to the Mezz and that's pretty much it. On Sunday Ruth came over and we had a hangover day together. Don't think I've moved that little in one day ever. We went down to Lidl, bought everything we felt like eating and then lay on the couch, watching Glee and Sherlock all day.

Today - Dark Shadows with Josef after a coffee in the sun (yes, spring/summer is here, hopefully to stay!).

let's twist again

Due to me misplacing my camera for the second time in a year (no, not the same camera as by "misplacing" I mean being a retard and losing it) there will be no pictures from Sweden. I'm still hoping it will show up somewhere in my apartment as I'm 23% sure I've seen it here since I came back, but the other 76% of me is saying it 'fell out' of my bag on the plane or on the airport bus. 1% is saying someone opened my handbag and took it. Maybe less than 1% is saying that. Oh well. I just wish it'd be possible to print pictures straight from your mind. USB in the neck maybe? Would unlikely screw that up.

With that said, I do have a back up camera (duh!) and Ruth was so kind to lend me a SD card so here comes an update from Saturday.

Ruth woke me up at 10 and wanted to go on a trip so we took the Dart to Dalkey.

View from the small harbour over Dalkey Island.

Tiny, tiny beach and one of Dalkey's fancy houses castles.

You can't really tell from this pic but I swear there were penguins on that island.

Fail jump pic.

After that much fresh air we deserved a pint. Were supposed to go for lunch but ended up in the only pub in Ireland (?) that didn't serve food.

Dalkey.

After a quick stop at home it was time for bbq at Westgate to celebrate Josef who turned older last week.

Bloggers always have their cameras ready.

Poor corkscrew after an hour of trying to open a wine bottle.

Twister time!

Some cheating was going on here...

I lost every time, but it was fun! First time I tried.

All the girls.

Then we twisted some more. This might be the uglies picture of me existing but it's so funny I had to put it up anyway. What is my left arm doing? And my face? Hahaha.

We were supposed to go to a house party in Smithfield but were too busy having fun at Westgate so only ended up going to Fitzsimons for an hour or two in the end. Great Saturday!
